    Citizens Advice Reading is looking for an Energy Adviser to join their Energy team. Working for 7 hours per week, you will be helping clients manage their energy bills better by looking for a better deal, switching supplier or tariff, understanding energy efficiency etc. Ideally you will be a trained Citizens Advice Adviser or equivalent and will have an interest in energy issues and an understanding of the energy market. Full training in energy issues will be provided.

  • The Great Get Together: 17-18 June

    A national event called “The Great Get Together” will be taking place on the weekend of 17-18 June this year. The event is being organised by the family and friends of Jo Cox MP and coincides with the anniversary of Jo’s death. The Great Get Together hopes to be a national moment of unity with people and communities coming together to share food in barbecues, bake-offs, street parties and more.

  • Householders to pay for green waste scheme from April

    The council’s free green bin service is being replaced next month with the new paid-for collection scheme, which has two charges depending on how much garden rubbish you want removed. From April 1 only green bins and bags bearing the new scheme’s stickers will be collected.

  • Funding Digest features Reaching Communities programme

    The February issue of RBC’s Funding Digest features details of the Big Lottery Fund’s “Reaching Communities” programme. Voluntary or community groups can apply for grants of between £10,000 – £500,000 to cover the costs of projects that improve communities by using local knowledge, strengths and assets to test and implement the ideas which matter most to communities.

    Tesco Napier Road is supporting the community in a number of ways, in particular through the work of the store’s community champion, Dee. There are several ways in which Dee and the store can help local charities and community groups including practical support and one-off donations of food/raffle prizes and they are always keen to hear from new local charities.
