Have your say: Civic Offices and a new library

News from Reading Borough Council.

In January 2023 the council received the news that it had been successful in its bid for the government’s ‘Levelling Up’ funding of £19.1 million. This includes an £8.6 million investment to rebuild the Central Library at the Council’s Civic Offices in Bridge Street. The existing library building is outdated and over several floors, and the plan is to build a new more accessible extension to the existing civic offices to house the library.

The council’s ambition to do everything they can to ensure that all residents, whatever their circumstances or background, can share in Reading’s success. As part of this, it is working on exciting plans at the Council’s Civic Offices, to deliver a modern, new Central Library and redesign its customer reception and service areas.

Please have your say, to make sure this redevelopment best meets the needs of you, the council’s customers and residents. More details and the survey are at www.consult.reading.gov.uk/css/newciviclibrary/ – the deadline for responses is 24 July 2023.
