Empower people with us, become an RVA Trustee!

News from: Reading Voluntary Action

Who is RVA? Reading Voluntary Action (RVA) supports and helps voluntary and community groups to start up and thrive, matches volunteers to great opportunities and works together with organisations across Reading to improve the lives of local people. RVA values the diversity, skills, knowledge, connections and potential in communities and values its position in nurturing the strengths and resources of people and communities.

Are you interested in supporting the local voluntary and community sector to thrive and would you like to share your skills, knowledge and experiences on our Trustee Board? We’re looking for someone who:

-Is enthusiastic about helping RVA be the best possible charity for local people
-Is happy to be part of discussions, and can think creatively
-Can work effectively as a member of a team of trustees

Why inclusion is important to us: RVA believes that an equal opportunities approach must be embedded in the culture of the organisation. To meet the needs of our communities and work towards solutions for the challenges the voluntary sector faces, we aim to be a learning organisation where everyone feels free to speak openly and have their voices heard. We want our Board of Trustees to reflect the community we support and welcome applications from all ages and backgrounds.

Whether you are an experienced trustee or wanting to take your first step at Board level, we would love to hear from you.

More detail on the role: This is an unpaid, voluntary role. Out of pocket expenses are paid and RVA training is offered free of charge to all trustees. As part of the induction process you will also be buddied up with a current board member to provide any mentorship needs.

We ask you to commit to 5 Board meetings a year currently in the evening and reviewed annually. Trustees also attend an annual away day to spend time discussing and setting strategy and planning. There is an opportunity to attend other meetings and/or be part of sub-groups of personal interest such as the Inclusion sub-group.
