News from: Lions Club of Reading
Reading Lions Club is once more reaching out to small local community groups and small local charities in the Reading area to offer financial support. Many local community groups do not have access to grant funding or the manpower/resources to invest in significant fundraising and yet they continue to provide a valued service to our community even during these challenging times. Through our own fundraising events we have set aside £10,000.00 to give away in small community grants, each of up to £750.00 to support local community projects.
How to enter:
1st stage – written applications to be submitted by post or email no later than 7 October 2022.
2nd stage – successful 1st stage applicants will be notified by email. You will then be asked to talk in more detail to a panel of two judges on a virtual Zoom call at a pre-arranged time during week commencing 17 October 2022.
Each group will be allocated a ten-minutes time slot, plus five minutes for questions – maximum of 2 persons to attend the Zoom call to represent each group.
3rd stage – successful applicants will be notified by email and the grants will be distributed at an awards ceremony the week commencing 14 November 2022.
Each successful group must be able to demonstrate how the grant benefits the local Reading community and mirrors our own objectives, to ‘promote the health and wellbeing of the Reading community by improving the local environment, supporting our youth and helping individuals in times of need’. Any grant awarded must be used for a specific project and not be used for general day to day running costs.
Please also note that, if you are successful in your application you will be expected to provide feedback to Reading Lions Club once the grant has been used, with written evidence by way of invoices etc.
