News from Reading Borough Council (RBC)
Reading Borough Council is introducing a weekly food waste collection for residents in February 2021, as well as reducing the size of the general waste bins.
Most Reading households will now have received a black food waste bin, which will contain a smaller grey caddy and some bin bags. To make use of the food waste collection, use the supplied bags as liners for the caddy, which could be kept in your kitchen in a convenient place such as under the sink. When the bag is full, tie it and put in your black bin. Leave the black bin outside alongside your usual red or grey waste bin – this will be collected every week. Food waste collections will start on Monday 1 February – please note that for most areas bin collection days will change.
