News from: Reading Voluntary Action
Reading Voluntary Action is delighted to announce that we are now accepting nominations for the third annual Reading Volunteer Awards. As in previous years, we will be hosting an awards evening to coincide with Volunteers’ Week 1-7 June, celebrating those in our community who volunteer their time, talents and skills for the benefit of our town.
The award categories:
Community Ambassador: Acknowledging the efforts of those who act as representatives of their communities helping to connect with others and adding to Reading’s vibrant cultural mix.
Can-do: Recognising those volunteers who frequently go above and beyond the expected and demonstrate the kind of can-do attitude that gets things done.
Can’t Do Without: Celebrating those fulfilling those vital roles that hold a group together and help them make a difference – often hidden and behind the scenes.
Student Volunteers: Acknowledging the positive contribution to the local community made by those who come to Reading, from across the UK and beyond, to study.
Sports Champion: Celebrating the volunteers who play a key, and often unrecognised, role in helping those from across our community to get involved with a sport.
Long-Standing: Recognising the consistent and significant contributions made by volunteers over an extended period of time.
Life in Reading: Recognising those who work to make Reading the unique, vibrant and welcoming place we all know it can be.
Nominations can be made by those working or volunteering in local not-for-profit organisations, those who have benefited directly from the work of a volunteer, or members of the general public. The deadline for nominations is 30 March 2019.
