The next Reading Town Meal is currently being planned by Food4Families, and stallholders are wanted.
The event is the biggest “picnic in the park” that Reading has ever seen, and will return to Forbury Gardens on Saturday 3 October 2015 – and the local community is invited to get involved in this celebration of local sustainable food.
A delicious meal, cooked by Reading College catering students from produce grown and donated by local allotment holders and home growers, will be served free to over 1,000 people.
Forbury Gardens will be filled with fun activities, workshops and local food producers’ stalls. Community groups will set out their stalls and music from local bands will keep the tempo going all afternoon.
Food4Families are seeking stall holders that have a focus on local food, growing, sustainability and community. There are three stall areas including: children’s / family activities, community stalls and traders. As well as established traders, one-off and cottage industry food stalls are welcome. There will be a £10 charge for traders and a £10 refundable deposit payable for not-for-profit groups.
