News from: Reading Voluntary Action
Reading Champions to End Loneliness Campaign launched in July with our first workshop at Reading Central Library. On Monday 2 October, we then held a stall at The Oracle to raise awareness of the campaign, get more people to sign up and commit to taking small (and big!) actions to reduce loneliness in their communities.
Over 250 people took information, many stopped to make pledges and we had some sign up to be Champions there and then! Many champions will look to understand more about the issues and think about who it may affect in their neighbourhoods so they can take small personal actions. Some are setting up their own projects and we are sharing a range of volunteering opportunities with our champions on a regular basis that will help reduce loneliness.
If you have other opportunities that directly tackle loneliness and you would like us to share with the Champions to End Loneliness, let us know at firstname.lastname@example.org. Also if you are a community based organisation and you would like to host a Champions to End Loneliness workshop, or find out more, please get in touch.
