Palmer Park Lodge – Bidding Opportunity

News from: Reading Borough Council

Reading Borough Council invites bids for the lease of Palmer Park Lodge (Palmer Park, Wokingham Road, Reading RG6 1LF). Local organisations, voluntary or other, have until 16:00 on Thursday 10 May 2018 to submit a bid for the property.

The property is situated to the east of Reading within the grounds of Palmer Park, off of Wokingham Road. It is a 30 minute walk from Reading town centre and served by bus stops on the number 17 and X4 routes.

The first ‘Pavilion Refreshment Room’ was opened in 1891, and the original kitchen and fireplaces are still on display in the café today. The pavilion currently comprises a large open-plan space, kitchen/serving area, male/female toilets and a small storage room. The building’s current permitted use is as a catering outlet with a community meeting space during designated operating hours.

The building is structurally sound, but interested parties are urged to seek their own advice on its current state. Access can be provided in order for required inspections to take place.
