Is your organisation worried about cyber crime? Free advice available

Cyber crime is generally where someone unauthorised has got access to a computer system – often by hacking into the system or spreading a virus to it. Examples affecting organisations are:

– Cyber criminals have accessed your network and stolen personal information about your customers and are demanding payment for its safe return. This is also known as hacking extortion.

– Your system, typically your website, gets flooded with unauthorised traffic causing it to slow down or malfunction. This is called a Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attack.

The government has published a leaflet that will help you in the event that your systems are affected by a live cyber attack and has set up an Action Fraud helpline to help organisations that are experiencing a live attack.
