News from: Reading Dusseldorf Association
Reading and Düsseldorf have had close links since 1947, just after the end of the Second World War, when the Mayor of Reading, Phoebe Cusden, visited Düsseldorf to see conditions, organised help and invited children to stay in Reading.
Our friendship has continued and grown ever since, it is among the oldest relationships between British and German cities.
This means that in 2017 we celebrate our 70th anniversary! To mark this there will be various events during 2017, including a Düsseldorf involvement in the Reading Fringe Festival.
We would like community groups in Reading to consider “twinning” with similar groups in Düsseldorf. This partnership could be as simple as an exchange of working practice, shared news and future plans, or it could develop into exchange visits or joint activities.
If your group or organisation would be interested in developing a contact in Düsseldorf, please complete the attached form and return to firstname.lastname@example.org. To discuss this, you can call Eddie on 07990 543387. The form can be downloaded here.
