Reading Borough Council has developed a Digital Strategy which sets out how it plans to develop digital services in Reading and to ensure that as many residents and businesses as possible can benefit from these.
The council plans to make all administrative tasks available online as a self-service option. This will not remove any services, but aims to make the council more efficient behind the scenes.
Going digital means investing in systems and technology which will allow you to use your computer, smartphone or other mobile device to:
- Carry out “tasks” online (like applying for a service, paying a bill, checking your account, reporting problems, booking appointments etc.) – the information you provide will link directly into the council’s office IT systems allowing them to process requests quickly and effectively
- Find the information you need to answer your questions quickly and easily.
Part of the council’s digital strategy will look at providing more extensive free internet access for Reading residents in places such as libraries and community centres.
