“Get Fit for Culture” Grants

2016 is Reading’s Year of Culture. This will be an opportunity to showcase and encourage engagement with the wide range of activities in the field of arts and heritage.

There will be grants for community groups to get involved in some of the monthly themes throughout the Year of Culture.

The first grants round will invite applications for Get Fit for Culture, which will run throughout January 2016. Launching the Year of Culture, it is intended to encompass a wide range of events, workshops, presentations, installations produced by Reading’s local cultural sector that residents and visitors to Reading will participate in and enjoy.

Ideally there will be at least one project every day for January. A wide variety of events from workshops and micro/small scale activity to more ambitious projects are all encouraged to apply.

The budget for this grants round is £20,000. Grants are available as follows:

  • 12 x £250 grants – to fund small scale workshops
  • 6 x £500 grants – to fund small scale activity
  • 4 x £1,000 grants – to fund individual performances/small scale commissions
  • 2 x £2,500 grants for larger scale projects/performances/installations
  • 1 x £5,000 grant for ambitious/new large scale project

For grants above £2,500 the applicant organisations would have to demonstrate that they have found at least one other source of funding.

Application deadline Monday 14 September 2015, 12 noon.
