    Acre’s AGM and Anti-Slavery Day

    The Alliance for Cohesion and Racial Equality (Acre) are holding an Anti-Slavery Day and their AGM, on Thursday 18 October at the Council Chamber in the Reading Civic Offices.

    Exhibition on Reading’s slave links, from 16:00 to 18:00
    This exhibition uncovers some of Reading’s links with the transatlantic slave trade, the campaign for its abolition and its long-lived aftermath. The aim is to raise awareness of modern forms of slavery and injustice.

    Annual General Meeting 2018, from 18:30 to 20:30
    The keynote will be given by Mohammed Amjad LLB, the Director of Legal Rights Partnership, on the topic of ‘Strange Welcome! The uneasy relationship between Commonwealth Citizens from the Caribbean, Africa, Asia and the United Kingdom leading to the recent Windrush scandal’.

    Refreshments will be provided. Parking is restricted – please use the Oracle Shopping Centre Car Park.
