Reading City of Sanctuary One Year On
35-39 London Street, Reading RG1 4PS
As part of Reading International Festival, Reading City of Sanctuary are hosting an event to celebrate what has been achieved so far. The theme for Reading International Festival this year is ‘Human Rights for Human Dignity and Survival’. Issues such as the right to live in peace and flee to safety from wars and climate change, will be raised and debated. Reading City of Sanctuary, with its aim of ensuring that refugees and asylum seekers feel safe and welcome in Reading, are at the very centre of the theme.
This is a chance to find out more about Reading City of Sanctuary, listen to refugees’ stories and fabulous music from Tomson and the Limpopo Groove, hear poetry and network with other organisations who’ve signed up. Some food and drink from the middle east will be provided. Come and join in and meet like-minded people who care about what happens to refugees and asylum seekers once they have arrived in Reading.
