Training: “Don’t Panic!” Introduction to Bookkeeping - FREE for RNN members

If you look after the financial records for your charity and need some guidance on how to make sense of it all, this course if for you.
Aims of the workshop
-To build understanding of the role of the principles of bookkeeping
-To consider practical tips for doing this successfully in a small voluntary organisation
-To ensure the ability to deal with issues that you might face in bookkeeping for a small voluntary organisation
-To consider the methods you will use in bookkeeping and record keeping more generally for your organisation
-To leave the workshop confident in your ability to produce the accounts that you needLearning outcomes
The content covered will be tailored depending on the needs of delegates on the day. However typically attendees will:
-Understand the components of a charity’s account
-Understand the key principles of bookkeeping
-Understand the particular requirements for keeping financial records of a small voluntary organisation
-Be aware of how they can contribute to effective corporate governance for a small voluntary organisations
-Be ready to resolve issues with record keeping and know where to get help if they need it
-Be able to determine what records will need to be submitted to the charity commission and if the organisation they volunteer with needs an audit or independent examination of their accountsTarget audience: The workshop will be open to up to 10 delegates. It is aimed at treasurers, assistant treasurers or charity managers in Reading’s voluntary sector, but will also be suitable for volunteers who are stepping up to the role of treasurer.
About the Trainer: Rachel is a trainer, speaker, facilitator and coordinating director of Holy Brook Associates. She has delivered a wide range of courses including technical training for Accountants (ACCA, CIMA, ICAS and AAT). An experienced course designer she has been training staff, volunteers and partners since 2007.
Cost: The training is at RVA's reduced rate of £40 for voluntary and community groups in Reading. FREE places are available for RNN members using the usual promotional code.
